The Alentejo

The Alentejo

Espresso-like coffee on the frontier of sustainability. Our darkest roast, The Alentejo is a California take on an Italian-style classic. Inspired by our travels, this Certified Regenerative Organic coffee is currently from a family-owned coffee cooperative in Tolima, Colombia and is available year-round.

FEELS LIKE:

Waking up in Italy. A João Gilberto record. An after-dinner espresso at a tucked-away restaurant. Timeless places...Tokyo, Vienna, Mokha, and Rome.

COMES FROM:

This coffee is sourced from family-owned farms organized around Asociación de Productores Agropecuarios de Santa Rosa (ASPRASAR). ASPRASAR is a producer association with 94 members who live in Saldaña a municipality in the department of Tolima, Colombia. ASPRASAR was founded in 2016 and works in collaboration with an export company called Lohas Beans to establish connections in the specialty coffee market, which has improved coffee prices for its members and enables farmers to reinvest in their farms and provide for their families.

BREW FOR:

Our coffees are purposefully versatile; for brewing whichever way you like, though we especially like Alentejo brewed on espresso or French press. This rich coffee pairs well with milk.

OUR GROUND COFFEE:

Over the years, we've honed in on a tried-and-true medium-coarse grind setting that works well for a range of home-brewing methods, including pour overs, coffee machines, and french press. With this grind setting, you have the power to adjust the flavor of your coffee through your coffee to water ratio and water temperature. Feel free to email us with questions or for brewing help!
