Alison Andersson Mug in Big Olive
Made in Ojai, California
"Inspired by the sea, California in the seventies and far flung travels, each piece is one of a kind."
The "Big Olive" is the same design and colors as the original "Olive" mug, but it is larger and can fit closer to 20oz of coffee, verses 12oz in the original. The Big Olive mugs in this batch also feature a nice blend into the red/brown colors of the other mugs.
Loose Dimensions (each mug one-of-a-kind!):
Height: 4 & 5/8"
Width (Mouth): 3 & 1/2"
Width (Widest): 3 & 5/8"
Width (Base): 3"
Width (incl. handle): 5 & 1/4"
We met Alison at Mercado Sagrado in November 2020. Ally took a break from the Canyon Coffee espresso bar to look around the market, and stumbled upon Alison's ceramics stand.
Loving what she saw, she started talking with Alison and the two decided to do a collaboration then and there. A few months later, Alison delivered our first batch of ceramic mugs in three distinct colors; we call them olive, brown and white splash.
More About the Artist
Alison is an artist who has worked in multiple mediums. She went to grad school for painting, and spent several years afterwards living in Los Angeles, where she showed paintings with the C. Nichols Gallery Project and worked in various realms of the creative industry—styling, set decorating, and art handling to name a few.
When she became pregnant with her first baby, she started working with and exploring less toxic materials like natural dyes and raw canvas. The move re-opened her to mediums she had put aside. After moving to Ojai, she discovered a multitude of ceramics studios and got a refresher on the process. She built a ceramics studio in her garage, and her business has been growing ever since.
