About Schentell

Schentell Nunn is the founder & lead designer of Los Angeles-based Offerings floral studio. We’ve been fans of her beautiful designs and arrangements for years, and were excited to learn more about her story, inspiration and creative process.

We recently went over to Schentell’s home for a visit and coffee. We didn’t have to travel far — it turns out, Schentell and her little family (she’s the mother of a toddler!) live in the same neighborhood as Ally & Casey.

CWDo you have a morning ritual? How has it changed over time?
SN

Currently, my mornings are full of baby kisses and giggles. Every day I make breakfast for my son, Saul, and I, and we sit together and enjoy our morning meal. He is 8 months old and watching him experience flavors and textures and LIFE for the first time is the most beautiful thing to witness. Becoming a mother has changed many things in my life, but my mornings have never been as enjoyable as they are now.

CWWhat does a typical day or week look like for you?
SN

Since becoming a mom, every day and week has been a slight progression towards having a bit more balance. Currently, I am focusing on finding harmony between the hustle of entrepreneurship, the tenderness of motherhood, and a return to feeling like “myself” again. It is a wild dance but I’m finding that the more intentional I am with my time and the more honest I am with my needs, the more I am able to find joy within my days.

CWWhere did your journey with flowers begin?
SN

As a child I would always create things out of natural materials, and I have memories of often making clover chains and building dream catchers out of grapevines from my best friend's backyard. When I would visit my grandmother, I would wander through her overgrown garden of hundreds of potted plants and rose bushes and I found it to be so magical. As a child, and even now, flowers have always been a fascination of mine. At 17, while living in a tiny town in Vermont, I began working with flowers in a small floral shop, and at that time my love for floristry and creating with my hands was solidified.

CWHow did you come to do what you do now, with floral arrangements? Was it something you always saw yourself doing? Or something that came about later.
SN

While gaining a degree in Interior Design, I had the realization that if I blended my floristry background with my knowledge of space and flow I could create incredible and memorable events. After college, I spent my 20s living in Brooklyn, finding my path and building my community, and after many years I realized that not only did I miss California, but I also deeply missed flowers. I moved to LA in 2018 with the intention and drive to begin Offerings. In the flux of it all, I worked with incredible designers in Northern California and traveled throughout Southeast Asia to gain clarity about what I wanted to build in my brand. The name “Offerings” is directly derived from the endless amounts of flowers I saw placed and carved into temples and homes during my travels.

CWWhat’s something about yourself that you’ve come to value over time?
SN

I value my ability to be authentic and brave. I deeply believe that you never get your time back, and that time moves quickly. Acting on my intuition has taken me to so many beautiful places and has allowed me to grow and expand in ways I never would have imagined.

CWOutside of your business, what other interests bring you joy, or make you feel most like yourself?
SN

I absolutely love to travel. Experiencing the world lights me up and fills me with a fresh sense of clarity. For me, there is nothing more inspiring than touching new bodies of water and exploring architecture that was built with purpose and patience. The world is the most beautiful teacher.

CWFive years ago, I wish I had known…
SN

Five years ago I moved to Los Angeles. I believe if I had known how much life was going to expand in this short time I may not have been as driven and determined as I was. The growth and love that has manifested in my life is beyond what I could have envisioned for myself. I think five years ago I knew just enough to motivate me to build the life I have today, and in a way, it was because of what I didn’t know that I was able to build what I have built.

Morning Rituals

For Mariah Nielson, the familiar is never static. Mornings begin inside the hand-built Inverness, CA home her father, sculptor JB Blunk, shaped from salvaged redwood in the 1950s. It’s where Mariah now lives, and is raising her own son amid the textures, tools, and stories of her childhood—alongside traded works from friends, artist-made artifacts, and her own growing contributions.

Morning Rituals

For painter Jereme Brian Mendez, mornings move at their own pace: ice water, meditation, and a walk through the quiet streets of the Berkeley Hills, where deer roam past and the fog hangs low. His studio hours don’t begin until the light shifts in the afternoon, but those early rituals—quiet, steady, tactile—form the architecture of his day.
