Back when we were forming the idea and brand for Canyon Coffee, we took a trip to Portugal together. It was our first time traveling in a foreign country that was entirely new to both of us. Driving around the country in a little rental car, we were met with wonderful surprises everywhere we went — beautiful countryside, inspiring cities and culture, incredible, fresh food, quality coffee, friendly people, delicious wine.
It's went down as one of our favorite trips, and it wound up becoming our first ever Canyon Coffee travel guide.
That was in 2016. This year, Ally returned to Portugal with her family. As expected, she found some more lovely places to get a coffee, meal, or just spend some quality time.
We hope you enjoy! And you can always download the original Portugal guide here.
Started by three brothers, Combi began out of a vintage van. They're now one of the leading specialty coffee roasters in Porto, with a couple locations. This is their first permanent location, and they converted an old garage to create it! It's a really nice, bright-lit location with quality coffee. I enjoyed my espresso here!
I fell in love with this place. Created by the owners of Rosa et Al, which we featured in our original Portugal guide, the café carries all the same beautiful aesthetic and design sensibilities as the hotel (check out their Instagram).
The coffee and food are amazing. The menu features fresh produce, with yogurt and bread made in-house. I especially enjoyed the ginger tea!

Hello Kristof is a cool little breakfast spot. My favorite part—they have a magazine stand! Great place to come and read for awhile.

Janis is a beautiful cafe by the water. It's a great place for a coffee, salad, or evening drink! They have a great selection of natural wines.
(Multiple Locations)
On our first trip to Portugal, Copenhagen Coffee Lab was our first stop from the airport! Since then, they've opened up three more locations around Lisbon, and every one is a continuation of the wonderful, inviting environment of the first. They've done a great job of creating multiple beautiful places for people to enjoy around the city.
Head to the Alfama location for fresh bread baked in house!
