"The relatively short flight to Mexico City from Los Angeles belies the difference of the cities. It’s like stepping into a world both foreign and familiar at the same time. With its preserved old buildings, tree-lined esplanades, and rich cultural heritage, it often feels more European than American. Every corner turned yields another beautiful street with new things to discover. And yet the city is uniquely its own. The heart of a civilization that dates back thousands of years. Art feels ingrained in the culture."
As usual, we spent every day traversing the city by foot, from early morning to night, hopping from neighborhood to neighborhood to search for and enjoy cafes, restaurants and museums.
In this guide, we've compiled 11 of our favorite spots to have a coffee and/or meal. As with all our coffee and travel guides, this isn't a "who's who" of specialty coffee. Rather, it's a collection of places where have enjoyed a good cup of coffee in an environment that embodies a warmth and spirit of hospitality that makes us feel welcome. Some are great for a quick cup, others you may want to lounge in all day (and night!).
As always, our guides are free to download. We hope you enjoy and find it useful, whether you're planning a trip to Mexico City, or just looking for inspiration!
Just a head's up! You'll be asked for your shipping address but not any payment info when you download the guide!
Travel has been a huge factor in developing our passion for coffee. Since we met, finding and visiting coffee shops has always been a highlight of our travels. Especially when on short trips, stopping into a roaster is a great way to get a taste of the local culture and pick up some tips for other good spots to visit.
Our guides are a way for us to share places we've visited and enjoyed. Rather than comprehensive, they're intended to provide little glimpses into larger environments that hold any number of possibilities and will appeal to you in myriad ways, should you make the trip!
We hope to inspire, add a few spots to your itinerary, and make sure no trip goes without delicious coffee :)
